Grease can produce the most stubborn of stains, and can splash everywhere, permanently ruining clothes and furniture - it is one stain you always hoped you wouldn't need to combat. However, with these remedies and little elbow grease, stains can be lifted with ease.
From home remedies to products specifically designed to remove tough stains, all the information you need can be found here. We also have GREAT TIPS ON HOW TO PROTECT LEATHER from grease stains.
KITCHEN CABINETS
Somehow grease manages to get inside our cabinets, making shelf surfaces of the shelves sticky. A great tip for cleaning them is to use WASHING-UP LIQUID and warm water to lift the stain; however, if the stain is more stubborn than expected, vinegar is a good grease remover. For wood surfaces a FURNITURE POLISH is great at getting the shine back, but please do follow the manufacturer’s directions to ensure that the product is compatible with the wood finish of the cabinet.
KITCHEN STOVE
Washing-up liquid and warm water can be used to lift stains from the stove, but a degreaser may be better, like HG CERAMIC HOB DAILY CLEANER; with the added advantage of a citrus ingredient grease marks will dissolve easily. When scrubbing ensure you do so in circular movements.
VENT SCREENS
Place vent screens in the sink, filled with hot water and a degreaser such as ULTRADOSE DEGREASER, leave to soak and then wash as usual, either in the sink or in the dishwasher.
REMOVING GREASE FROM CLOTHING
- Cover the mark with WASHING-UP LIQUID if colourless; if not then dilute it with warm water - coloured products could stain clothing;
- Gently work it into the stain; the liquid will absorb and dissolve the grease;
- Rinse the stain with vinegar and wash as usual;
- Repeat these steps for stubborn stains.
