Maintaining a clean and presentable home can be a challenge in itself, and many of us do not wish to spend hours cleaning and missing out on the weekend. With these quick and easy house cleaning tips you can say goodbye to regular big cleans at the weekend and have a home to be proud of.
GOLDEN RULE: Keep it clean, room by room
SCHEDULE
Have an hour a day dedicated to one room - you may want to tackle the bathroom on Monday and the kitchen on Wednesday. If you have the "I’ll clean it when I get round to it" attitude, the chances are that nothing ever will be cleaned. Break up the big cleaning chores so you don’t get bogged down and resent cleaning.
FUN
Make cleaning fun; have some music playing or one of your favourite television programmes in the background. We’ve found that playing a comedy show in the background makes cleaning fun, and you’re laughing while you clean.
Why not phone a friend while you polish? Having your mind on something else whilst cleaning will always make the task more enjoyable.
CLEANING PRODUCTS
Assign certain cleaning products to a room - this way you won’t be spending precious time trying to find all the products you need in a cluttered cleaning cupboard; everything will be at hand when you need it.
Don’t go overboard with the amount of cleaning products you keep - a good MULTI-PURPOSE CLEANER can suffice when cleaning the kitchen surfaces and cupboards, and can also be used in the bathroom. Why have a lot of products when one will do most jobs?
SPOT CLEAN
This is a simple way of cleaning, but extremely effective. When you’ve finished using the sink in the bathroom, get a paper towel and wipe it down; take your GLASS CLEANER (which should be kept in the bathroom) and spray the mirror so the shine isn’t ruined by toothpaste and soap splatter.
After eating a family meal and clearing the dishes, grab your FURNITURE POLISH or MULTI-PURPOSE CLEANER and spray the table.
TIME SAVERS
- Quick clean one room per day;
- Keep cleaning supplies and PAPER TOWELS or CLOTHS in each room;
- Spot clean whenever you see dirt;
- Clean as you go; when cooking wipe down the surface whilst waiting for the meal to cook.
EASY KITCHEN CLEANING TIP
- For a fresh smelling bin clean once a fortnight with lemon juice and hot water;
- Remove burnt food from your pan by applying WASHING-UP LIQUID and water to it, bringing to the boil and letting it cool. Wash as usual and you’re left with a shiny pan;
- To clean the microwave, place a cup of water with a lemon in it and cook for a couple of minutes. As you remove the cup and wipe the surfaces with a MULTI-PURPOSE CLEANER, you’ll find that the caked on marks are now easy to remove.
