Cleaning the Lounge after Christmas

It is the first big job of the New Year, but it has to be done. The lounge has seen many gleeful faces over Christmas, and many old faces, but it has also seen a lot of mess.

Over the Christmas season we neglect the VACUUM and duster, but it is now time to use them more than ever before.

Here is an easy step by step guide to cleaning your lounge quickly yet efficiently:

  1. Put all the Christmas decorations down and take the Christmas tree apart, neatly putting them away in the cupboard or loft.  It is amazing to see how much room is taken up by Christmas decorations and remarkable to finally remember how much space you have after they are gone.
  2. Declutter.  Once you have taken the Christmas decorations away you will see things you have never noticed before and probably would never see.  Get rid of that pile of magazines you haven’t read in ages.
  3. Begin to dust.  Giving all mantle shelves and display cabinets a once-over will make an incredible difference, and as soon as you have seen this difference it will motivate you to keep on going.  PLEDGE MULTI-SURFACE CLEANER is ideal.
  4. VACUUM or MOP.  Whether you have laminated flooring or carpets, it will be in desperate need of a clean.  It is always a good idea to dust before vacuuming, as dust can travel to the floor while you are cleaning ; sweep and MOP laminated flooring and VACUUM carpets.  Your carpets may need a treatment of CARPET SHAMPOO beforehand in order to pick up any stains which may have occurred over Christmas without your realising.
  5. De-clutter again, whilst putting everything back to normal - ornaments in their usual home and so on.  You may be surprised at how much you actually possess.
